“THE SABA COLLECTION”
San Diego, Ca. (November 23, 2009) – The unforgettable finalist from Season 5 of Bravo tv’s hit series Project Runway, Korto Momolu, has teamed up with Madera Exotic Woods to design an exclusive line of fashionably eco friendly “green” necklaces, earrings and accessories, all made from natural exotic wood. “The Saba Collection” (sah-bah means “gift” in her native tongue, Lorma, a tribe in Liberia) are creations and designs that will feature handcrafted jewelry using precious woods from the rainforests. No stains or varnishes will be applied to the jewelry, thereby preserving the natural grain and color.
“This is a very unique opportunity for me to express my love of nature in a very special way, all while creating some beautiful jewelry that can be worn in a variety of fantastic ways, via everyone’s wardrobe ” says Korto.
“Korto was immediately inspired by the social and environmental history behind our wood products”, says Maria Isabel Morillo, owner of Madera Exotic Woods. “By creating these wonderful pieces we want to show that we can use the beauties of nature without damaging it. In these designs we are bringing out the feel, energy and peace of the rainforest.”
Little Rock’s own fashionista hasn’t missed any fashion steps since Project Runway, 2010 looks to be her year as she’s additionally set to launch a new handbag and accessories line via Dillards as well as debut a new collection for Fashion week in NYC, both in February.
Korto’s previous collections have been viewed nationally on “BET’s RIP The Runway”, and “My Black is Beautiful”. Her spectacular talents were featured again via Project Runway’s Reunion show, prior to the launch of Season six and she’ll be a featured guest judge via their upcoming Season seven show next year.
Korto also produced a spectacular fashion show for The Tom Joyner Morning Show in Orlando, Florida for it’s 2009 Family Reunion, where her designs shared the stage with various multiplatinum artist such as Maxwell, Vanessa Williams and BeBe & Ce Ce Winans.
